This new course will cover content not addressed in existing courses and will be an upper-division PSY elective for psychology majors. Child and family related applications of psychology, such as this topic of adoption, are of interest to many psychology students. Knowledge about the issues surrounding adoption, embedded in a context of psychological theory and research, would seem to be of interest to students and possibly to potential employers.
