This is part of the move of several courses to the INF prefix to separate courses dealing with traditional CS topics like programming from courses that deal with topics that are computer-related but don’t involve programming, in that some students see CSC courses in general as programming-related, and these courses do not include any significant amount or programming.
Note: Although not obvious, the phrase “Credit will not be awarded for both CSC 314 and CIS 230.” is being dropped, as it has proved more troublesome than useful, and these courses are not exactly the same.
